Bill Shope
Bill Shope came to Hometown Broadcasting in the summer of 2020 after working as a print journalist for The Scioto Voice for a number of years also serving as a consultant for Court TV. Transitioning to broadcasting was a smooth process due to all of the experienced voices at Hometown Broadcasting pitching in to ease the change that took place during the early stages of the national pandemic, according to Bill. Bill’s ability to remain neutral and convey the facts of each story has enabled him to form many solid working relationships with newsmakers all over the region. He currently is the news host for the Get Up and Go Show, Community Corner, the Noon New Report on Fox Sports 1260 WNXT AM and 95.7 FM and supplies the morning news for Classic Rock 107.5 The Breeze.

“I love working with Steve, Chuck and Holly Gail on the Birthday Butcher each and every morning-there’s great chemistry amongst all of us that’s really electric and translates into a good time for listeners.”

Bill attended Shawnee State University and The Ohio State University before returning back to his roots in Southern Ohio. Despite the best efforts of Chuck Greenslate, he is an avowed Duke University Blue Devil fan. Away from his news duties, Bill has been the Governing Board President for Sciotoville Community Schools for twenty-one years and attends All Saints Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, where he is a member of the Vestry. He and his wife Foresta have three grown children and five grandchildren.

“Scioto County is poised for a return to greatness and if citizens know exactly what’s going on in their county, we can maximize that potential. I’m grateful for the life I’ve been given and I respect the responsibility of delivering the news every day-first, fast and factual, every single broadcast.”
